Strengthening Wastewater Management and Water Conservation

Two German delegations comprising of eminent scientists and engineers visited Karnataka and had interactions with Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), Department of Forest, Environment and Ecology (DFEE), Bangalore Metropolitan Regional Development Authority, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Karnataka Urban Water supply and Sewerage Development Board (KUWSDB) and other related agencies. The discussions, meetings and workshops led to development of a “12 point agenda” which provides framework and action plans for strengthening the exchange of knowledge and technology transfer. Survey to assess the Performance of two major BWSSB plants were undertaken and recommendations given.

  • Thirteen industries in five Industrial Sectors like Distillery, Sugar, Paper, Textile and Engineering were studied and recommendations given for effluent treatment improvement.

  • Preliminary surveys undertaken to initiate Integrated Lake Rehabilitation in a BMRDA jurisdiction.

  • An exclusive workshop held in latest technologies in Municipal Water and waste water Management in April 2009 with BWSSB Engineers.
