| Establishing Consumer Advice Centers |
|
To empower consumers to take informed decisions consumer advice centers (CAC) will be set
up in each one of five selected States (Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, West
Bengal) where consumers receive pre- and post-purchase advice on products and services.
To
ensure the sustainability of the pilot project the advice centers will be closely connected to the
State Consumer Helplines and both the State governments and selected Voluntary Consumer
Organization (VCOs) will be involved in the operation of the CACs. The terms of reference have
been developed for establishing CACs and linking them to a
Consumer Support Network (CSN) including a central IT
Platform. Operation is expected to start in the first months of
2010. |
