Enhancing Skills and Knowledge
The HRD Programme of ASEM enhanced the capacities and skills of 688 experts from the regulatory agencies, municipalities, civil society, NGOs and local authorities on holistic management of municipal solid waste and hazardous waste, urban planning and renewal, governance, consumer awareness and legal metrology, disaster risk reduction, management of industrial estates, clean technologies and minimizing air and water emissions.

A total of 22 training programmes, exposure visits and conferences were conducted during the period January - June, 2009 under the ASEM focus areas with the involvement of 43 eminent international experts. Around 500-600 community members and stakeholders were involved in SAKARMA a massive awareness programme, in Tirupati by GTZ-ASEM in cooperation with Tirupati Municipal Corporation and local NGOs.

The improved capacities and enhanced skills of the partners and stakeholders leads to development of a better management structure for urban and industrial infrastructure and consumer protection in India.
