The best way to provide lasting support for reducing pollution
is to help governments in formulating good policies and in
strengthening their services which enable reduction of pollution.
We aim to back these efforts by close cooperation and providing
resources and expertise as well as to act as a facilitator
between all the involved stakeholders.
Our primary partners apart from our founding institutions,
the Indian Ministry
of Environment and Forests (MoEF) and the German
Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), are the Indian
Union and State governments. The overall framework for our
work is agreed with the Union government and our activities
support Union ministries such as e.g. the Ministry of Consumer
Affairs and Public Distribution. The majority of our work
covers areas which are within the responsibility of individual
State governments. Related important partner institutions
are the Central
Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the State Pollution
Control Boards (SPCB).
Other important partners for our work include members of the
private sectors, NGO's, civil society, universities and research
community in India.
